Rented a standard rv from Cruise America in Albuquerque, NM; drove 5 hours to our campsite to find that the toilet and refrigerator didn't work. Technical assistance told us to return it - amazing assistance! Upon returning the rv, we were told we couldn't get any kind of compensation from the local office. Contacted the customer relations office (on-line only) and have not received any response or assistance as of yet! If we wanted to primitive camp, we would just have brought a tent and would have been better prepared!!

Terrible company

Absolute 0 star experience (negative if possible). They gave me an RV that was never cleaned or inspected and has literally 20 problems come up, including safety issues that made it not road worthy (leaking sewage, 5 bald tires, no AC, engine overheating, etc.). I had 3 cruise america dealers along the way tell me it should never have gone out onto the road. Cruise America refused to give me any discount, and actually overcharged me per night. Calling them is ridiculous because they just say another department handles that, and the other department says the other department, and no one does a thing. I even had the dealer tell me that the company doesn't answer their calls. Worst company ever, nightmare experience. Terr

Poor vehicle maintenance

Please DO NOT rent a RV from Cruise America...Unless you want to put your family in harms way. The vehicle steering wheel was shaking violently (making it difficult to see out of the rear view mirrors) and pulling to one side. The vehicle was unable to connect to an outside electrical source, so we had to run the generator (more money). Don't expect the 1 (800) representative to help (polite, but not helpful). We were told to find a trucking gas station and take it in for the needed repairs (we're on vacation and its late on a Saturday night). "Oh now I have to get your maintenance done" They did not give us any suggestions or places to take it in even if we could have. Additionally, a control panel in the bedroom continued to beep which needed to be reset. The RV smelled like someone had dogs in it previously to us renting it. But to top off everything, when we returned the vehicle, I was told that the previous person who rented the vehicle had complained about the shaking steering wheel and pulling to the side. She stated they had "slapped a wheel on the vehicle and thought that would take care of the problem", Well it didn't! She deducted $100.00 from the total rental. Each time I called the 1 (800) number (which is a must!) to tell them about each occurrence. After my trip I filed a complaint with Cruise America (what a joke!!!!!, after they listened to all my conversations to the 1 (800) representatives and had a phone conversation/interview with me, they decided that they could give me a $150.00 credit on "another" rental...Additionally, I was told that the vehicle has now been repaired. Well that helps me a lot! ...NO WAY WILL I EVER RENT FROM CRUISE AMERICA...

AC Broke First night and won't refund me

We rented the RV starting on a Friday afternoon with my husband and 10 month old baby. The actual RV was okay and the AC was working find when we all went to sleep. Somewhere in middle of the night, the AC broke and some air was coming out but it was getting hotter and stuffier as time went on. Our baby kept waking up and we couldn't sleep much either. We were lucky to have been near our friend's home that night so went there and slept on the couch for the rest of the night. We returned the RV the following night but the RV company is still charging us for 4 days even though it was useless. They are basically stealing money for a service they didn't provide. I will never refer them to anyone and try to deter as many people as I can so that they don't get charged for services they won't be receiving.

We had tried to cancel our reservation last Saturday we called to Mannasas VA Ofise no one was responding to us. Now we have a serious problem with cancellation. When we went to rent the RV the one we saw was very clean and everything worked. The one we actually got was in terrible shape and filthy. Please see attached list and photo. I called when the AC stopped working and was told to call someone to service it and if was over $75 I would need to call corporate for approval. I called for service and thought I should call corporate and give them s heads up and after waiting on hold for 40 minutes I left my number and never received a return call. All in all it was a terrible experience and I will never use Cruise America again. Further more I will share my experience with everyone I know!

There is no customer service..... Everything u go to gives you the same number....800/671-****..... All they say to do is send an email, then there is no contact or resolution..... They just take ur money and don't fix the issues

First and last time renting RV from Cruise America

My fault I told the route 44 staff in Lakeville Ma that I watched the online video they never brought me through the RV. When I got it home I had to call them several times. 1. Ordered the sheets and cooking packages. Did not receive the sheet package and most of the pots and pans were dirty. 2. Ever time we did not use the camper for more than 12 house the low battery alarm would go off until we drove for several miles or had it plugged into the park electric. 3. Window washer fluid was empty 4. One of the three gas burners did not work. 5. No waste hose was included with the camper which we found out at the RV campground. Purchased a new one. 6. The water hose at the coupling leaked and had to replace. Purchased anew one. 7. All of the cushions in the camper were filthy. 8. The RV AC ran at the most at 30 percent efficiency. We were fortunate that the overhead AC worked even though it made a racket when on. For the amount of money you charge I overpaid by hundreds of dollars. As I said this will be the first and last time and I will make sure I share my story with as many friends and relatives I can. Rob Biela Bridgewater MA

Bad Experience during Trip and in Newark, Ca Pick up Location

I am appalled by the issues I had with my rental, by the interaction with the Cruise America staff at the Newark location, the lack of transparency of their numbers. They leave you with a feeling that you were fooled as their numbers are not transparent, their local staff is condescending, and messages are not consistent. Issues during with the RV (Pick up experience where they don’t care to explain anything, they just check boxes; dump hose missing; filthy under sofa, bed over the driver seat; no rental guide/instructions; shower door did not close or open; wheel turning right; rooftop air went constantly opening during the middle of driving, very noisy; black water tank light monitors not working; no heating/furnace, freezing at night; water pump stopped working; sofa bed didn’t open). Local management is condescending, they don’t explain the numbers, they try to make you feel like they are doing you a favor and add more inconvenience by not solving anything and tell you to contact customer service. So be aware: ask for a through walk-through of the RV before you drive away, with instructions about the operations of every equipment, ask them to show you in operation the shower, the water pump, the furnace, open/close the sofa bed, the toilet, the generator, the dump hose, the microwave. It is their job to show you the details, ask for the renter’s guide. They won’t smile but don’t let this spoil the start of your vacation. When you are back, don’t let them off the hook with the hidden fees, their lack of transparency on these charges. Take your online confirmation, add up how much you should pay as extras (e.g. mileage, generator, etc) and if the numbers are different, they need to explain to you why. Good concept, some good RVs (but a lot of old, bad ones), but horrible operational staff. Do you homework to avoid spoiling your vacations.

Not the Trip we had in mind

Not the trip we had in mind. We booked a Cruise America C30 RV for 3 weeks on line with Jurnii and the booking process was very good. We were flying from the UK to spend Christmas with family for the first time. We were told that we couldn't pick up the RV on the day we arrived due to time difference so we arrived at the Carson CA rental pick-up the next day, they thought we were a no show ? The staff were friendly and very helpful but we had to wait about 4 hours for our RV as the air conditioning wasn't working. We set our sat nav up and off we went really looking forward to our trip. We had pre-booked the first few campgrounds as Christmas can be busy. A few days into our trip, the first time driving at night, we got pulled over by the Police, NO BACK LIGHTS at all. That was the first phone call to Travellers Assistance. Rather than run through how many times we had to call Travellers Assistance and how many Auto repair centres we went to in our first week to get the problem fixed, lets just say the first week of our trip was spent trying to fix their poorly maintained vehicle. By the end of the week we'd had enough and asked Cruise America to swap the vehicle, at first they suggested we drive back to Carson from Pasadena, more time and fuel out of our trip. We suggested they drive one to us instead ! We told them where we were and they said it would be about 11am. 7pm and the new vehicle arrived. Seemed ok, nice man Antonio dropped it off then had to drive the one with no lights back to Carson in the dark. Both RV's weren't very clean as our white socks told us and there were stains on the upholstery, the curtains were really dusty and dirty, the bedding was basic but the beds were very comfortable. We set off again in our 2nd RV and went to fill up with fuel. $75 and it only registered half full ? the next day had to fill up again $75 still only half full so we assumed the fuel gauge was faulty. Worried about the distance we were going we thought it best to make sure the tank was topped up, another $50 and another $50, by now we thought the vehicle was a lot thirstier than the last one until...... we noticed the fuel *** out from underneath the vehicle. Hadn't noticed before as I guess the camber of the fuel station may have been slightly slopped. On inspecting underneath we discovered a large hole the size of a 25c piece in the fuel pipe, so we realised then that the fuel wasn't reaching the tank. Here we go again....second week, lots more calls to Travellers Assistance and more visits to the Auto repair centre. After wasting yet another day fixing their vehicle and missing saying goodbye to family who were going home, 6 hours waiting to be precise on an industrial estate with nowhere to even get a coffee, the pipe was replaced. Fantastic, we can now start our holiday. Third week was brilliant, vehicle drove ok and we enjoyed being on the road. We returned the RV at the given time (cleaner than we got it) and asked to speak with the Manager which we had pre-arranged. He didn't speak to us but got one of the staff to offer us a refund of our linen hire and kitchen kit as compensation ? I was quite upset and really this just wasn't good enough. In the end we did get half our money back which was the least they could do. I wouldn't ever rent an RV from Cruise America again but I would do another trip with another company (after reading the reviews first of course) and I couldn't recommend Cruise America. If you do choose to rent from them, may I suggest that you have them check everything first, not just the scratches on the outside. I had broken my wrist 2 weeks before our trip so the upset with the vehicles was the last thing we needed.
